I got 9.2(~87.4%) in 10th and 75.4% in 12th what are my chances in cat? what estimated percentile can i score to get admission?
- IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta and IIM Bangalore conduct their admission process separately.
- The newly established IIMs follow a Common Admission Process which is also called CAP. The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a Common Written Ability Test and Personal Interview Rounds. A separate Institute wise merit list will be prepared and this merit list will be declared based on individual admission and selection criteria.
- IIM Sirmaur, IIM Jammu, IIM Nagpur will release their own merit list according to the CAT score or percentile and profile of the Candidate. There are no further rounds for these Institutions.
Few IIMs like IIM Kozikhode considers only your Graduation and 12th marks and not 10th marks. If you look at its shortlisitng criteria:
- CAT Overall Index Score carried 75% weightage
- Class 12 percentage carried 7.5% weightage
- Graduation score carried 7.5% weightage
- Work Experience carried 5% weightage
- Academic diversity factor carried 5% weightage
So if CAT score gets 75% of the weightage, your CAT percentile should be nothing less than 95 if you want to get into any of the IIMs. More or less the rest 19 IIMs share the same criteria and when there is WAT, GD and PI is involved, the weightage shifts.
- FMS, Delhi needs 95 percentile.
- IIM Shillong: 92 percentile
- NITIE Mumbai: 91 percentile
- IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Tiruchirapalli, MDI Gurgaon, IIM Udaipur, IIM Rohtak, IIM Ranchi, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IMT Ghaziabad, IMI New Delhi, XIM Bhubaneshwar and New IIMS need 90 percentile.
Now if your target is top B-School, your percentile should be between 85-90, so forth and so on.
