I got a seat at VIT Vellore in Branch Mechanical Engineering Specialization in Manufacturing Engineering. What is the scope in this branch? Should I seek Admission in vellore Campus ??
Hello Gaurang,
Vellore institute of technology (VIT), is an AICTE approved college with NAAC A grade. Since you have mentioned the specialization I'm guessing you are talking about M.Tech however your bio says you are currently in 12th so I will provide information on both Btech mechanical engineering as well as M.Tech mechanical engineering in manufacturing engineering.
M.Tech mechanical engineering in manufacturing engineering is a two years long full time post graduate degree course. About 60% students get placed every year from this stream of engineering from VIT. Highest package offered was 30 LPA for the previous year. Average package offered was 6-7 LPA. The top recruiters include Amazon, PayPal, Intel, Reliance etc.
Btech mechanical engineering is a four years long undergraduate degree course. Highest package offered was 9-12 LPA. The average package offered was 4-5 LPA. Mostly IT companies recruit from Btech candidates.
Hope this helps and Good luck
As such the branch is good, and so is the faculty and research facilities, however the placements are bleak in Core Companies. There are very few Mechanical Engineering Companies recruiting from VIT Vellore Campus except few, however the Placements are strong and most students get placed with Marketing, Software, Analytics and Other Non Core Sector Companies.
Incase you get seriously interested with Mechanical Branch, I would suggest you to pursue GATE in future, followed by M.Tech from some of the Top Higher Technical Institutes in India like Top IITs, IISc Bangalore and so on.
