Hi Sunny,
Congratulations on securing such good rank! I would chceck the statistics and see. However, I am sure you can get any college under state quota. I've mentioned some cut offs below.
Hi Prateek,
In order to be eligible for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses for a particular academic year, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain minimum marks in National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test held for the said academic year besides obtaining minimum prescribed marks at the qualifying examination.
Minimum percentile as SC aspirant you should be in the 40th percentile. 450–480 will be a good score to get a seat in NEET 2019 West Bengal domiciled. Anyway let’s see which are the best medical colleges in India and you will find only one West Bengal medical college in the list, IGPMER ( Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research).
You might be able to secure a seat in state quota if you hold a West Bengal domicile. I n NEET 2018, the cut off marks for SC/ST Category was 96 and for General Category it was 119.
NEET cutoff percentile remain same but cut off marks change every year. In my suggestion to be on safer side.SC/ST should try to get obtain 120 marks and General should try to get around 165 , cut off usualy do not go beyond this. This is just a rough calculation looking at previous year cut off.
Once you qualify seat in India you need 600 plus to get great Govt colleges and atleast 400 something to secure seat in any govt. college. In case you fail to secure a seat in India, you can go for MBBS Abroad in which only minimum eligibility marks are required. You just need to clear cut off marks to get into MBBS Abroad.
Here are some cut offs from 2018.
Category-wise Qualified CandidatesCategory | NEET Qualification Percentile | NEET Qualifying Score (out of 720) |
Qualified Candidates
(By Obtaining NEET Cut off) |
Unreserved (UR) | 50 th Percentile | 119 | 2,68,316 |
Other Backward Classes (OBC) | 40 th Percentile | 96 | 3,27,575 |
Scheduled Caste (SC) | 40 th Percentile | 96 | 87,311 |
Scheduled Tribe (ST) | 40 th Percentile | 96 | 31,360 |
Hope this helps! Study hard. All the best for your exams! Good luck!
