It depends upon the JEE Main and JEE Advance cut offs, If You manage to qualify the exam by achieving the cut off, You can apply for JOSAA Counselling. It should be noted the cut off for EWS/SC/ST/FEMALES/OBC category is lower than the general category
However It is usually advised to fill the choices as per the preference of colleges and departments, for example CSE in NIT Trichy is your priority followed by CSE in NIT Warangal, you can fill CSE at NIT Trichy at serial number 1 and CSE at NIT Warangal at serial number 2 and so on and so forth. However to get any NIT, you must have qualified JEE Mains and to get any IIT, you must have qualifies JEE Advanced

But the previous cut offs of colleges should be taken in consideration, it is better to research over the cut off of colleges then make a preference list of colleges and fill accordingly

For the college preferences and the courses provided by these colleges and to know which colleges participate in the JOSAA counselling, please go to the below mentioned link: https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/josaa-participating-institutes/amp

Hi,
I am sorry to inform you but being a general student, you can't get NITs at this rank. The closing rank of NIT karnataka last year was nearly 38,000 under home state quota. Chances of getting IIIT s or GFTIs is also low.Closing rank of GFTIs was also nearly 60,000 last year. However you can try in other state colleges or in other entrances.
Thank you.

Hello Aspirant,

College is also depend on your category because reservation is their and if you are of general category then their is no chance to get any nit. But if are not from general category then in their might be chance go get any nit college. This year due to this pandemic their is a chance to get better college other than the previous years so you have to go for the counseling till the end.

Hello student,

For general category with the rank of 117000 ,it is difficult to get a seat in an Nit. You can try for the state level councelling but chances are less. There are also various colleges, which take admissions based on jee score.

If you want to predict whether you can get a college with your rank or not. I'm providing the following link
