Congratulations on securing admission. As per your concern about how should you use your chance. Just use it correctly. Try to engage in the coding world. In the first year coding is comparatively lower then other years.but if you start to learn coding in 1sr year itself it will be great. Enjoy your college life but be serious for your education. You are investing your 4 years.

PROS:

The scenic beauty is unmatchable. The climate is simply amazing.

The library is really huge. You can also find various rare books here.

You will find a great set of peers. They are going to be your gods. You will know why when you read the cons.

Ragging is very rare and the repercussions are.. well.. extremely serious.

CONS:

Food will make you regret joining here.

Internet speed is never more than 70 KBPS. You will find lan cables in labs and library and the speed is good but many educational websites are blocked.

The 75% compulsory attendance thing is really irritating. You will have a constant feeling that your time is getting wasted in the class but you have no choice.

First year is no less than hell. The curriculum in the first year is complete crap . In the first sem there is not one core subject(CSE). Oh yeah.. I know people will tell CTPS(computational thinking for problem solving).. but that is a completely redundant subject if you're familiar with atleast one programming language.

Hostel is good but laundry is why you will regret joining here. There is a service called quick smart wash which promises to return your clothes in 2 days. Well that's a completely farce. They give the clothes back in no less than a week and the most important thing… they charge you 200 per wash.

Now.. the most important point.. lecturers. In the first year you almost won't find any good lecturer unless you are lucky.(I was somewhat lucky) Later on there are a few good lecturers but the others.. you will die sitting in their class. Here's where your friends can help you .

As far as food is concerned..as I mentioned in the first point is bad. The canteen is not a any better.. and the worst part.. its not worth the money. Recently.. in the name of gst they simply raised the cost arbitrarily. It's really bad.
