It completely depends on what you are interested in, don't merely choose a course because of the fact that it's being offered at a better college. Instead go for something that you would like to read and would prefer to make a career in future. As far as college goes NIT Trichy/Warangal are comparatively better than NIT Silchar but the ultimate choice rests on you, if you wish to pursue ECE then don't think twice just go for NIT Silchar else you can go for NIT Warangal/Trichy in case you are interested in metallurgy.

For metallury: This branch of engineering deals with pretty interesting things which may let you get good package after experience and your work field may be at steel plant,furnace etc and this also provides wide range of base to research in nano,composite and advanced materials which can be considered as stepping stones to many sophisticated technologies.

For ECE: The full form of ECE is-Electronics and Communication Engineering. It is the intermediate between Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Engineering,or most likely it is in between the core and software.You will have to learn electrical part as well as programming part. I n addition there is a communication part.We can say that it is the modified,advanced and miniature form of electrical engineering. It is a Core cum software engineering.
