A candidate with any number of backlogs in graduation degree is eligible to apply for CAT as well as GATE exams but only if he/she has attained a minimum of 50% aggregate throughout his/her degree. CAT gives you an access to opt for masters in management whereas GATE gives you an access to opt for masters in your core engineering field. As you have got backlogs in  two paper in your BTech courses  that it is your final year then first and foremost duty of you should be to clear the two backlog papers with good result of marks.

As per the criteria of GATE examination you must should clear your final year backlogs to be eligible for GATE examination suppose you have two backlogs in your final year,and you have completed and clear all of those in 2022 do you will be eligible for GATE 2022.

if you are interested in MBA then you prepare yourself thoroughly for  the next CAT examination. Or if you  want to do higher studies then you prepare yourself for GATE exam.if you want to go for teaching job then you should not go for GATE examination for taking admission in post graduation courses in technology. If you want to to  get the job in MNCs then you do MBA after your BTech course is complete. It Will get you a good reward.
