I'm extremely sorry to inform you dear but you are not eligible for CDS with your diploma qualification.
This is because,
Diploma in engineering is just equivalent to 10+2 but to be eligible for CDS ,you need to be at least a graduate . So, if you want to appear for CDS examination then yes you need to pursue btech or any other graduate course.
For reference,
Educational qualifications required for CDS is provided below:-
* Indian Military Academy :- you need a bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Those who are in final year of their degree are also eligible.
* Indian Naval Academy :- Must have bachelor's degree in engineering or should be in final year of your engineering.
* Air Force Academy :- You should have bachelor's degree in engineering or Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with physics and mathematics in your 10+2 level . Those who are in final year of their degree are also eligible
* OTA (Men) :- you need a bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Those who are in final year of bachelor's degree are also eligible.
* OTA (Women - Non-Technical) :- you need a bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Those who are in final year of their degree are also eligible

To be eligible for CDS candidate need to have Bachelor's Degree from a recognised University or equivalent institute. So only after completing your B.Tech you will be eligible for CDS. Right now with a diploma in engineering you are not eligible for CDS. All aspiring candidates wanting to appear for CDS should be graduates and between the age group of 19 to 25 years. Along with age and education qualification applicants must be physically fit as per the prescribed physical standard of UPSC and the relevant defence department. Candidates must be in good physical and sound mental health and free from any disease/ disability that can interfere in the performance of their duties.
