I have 54.4 % in graduation am i eligible for mba in this college ??
Hi Arijit,
Thanks for A2A
IIT Roorkee has an eligibilty criteria of 60% minimum aggregate in 10th, 12th and Graduation for General Category Students. For a person in Sc, St category the aggregate in 55%. In either case, you have missed the line by a small margin. However, if you do have a good CAT percentile, IIMs have a minimum requirement of 50% aggregate only. So try to get the high percentile and get into IIMs which are better than IITs when it comes to MBA
Hope it helps.
All the best
Hello Ajit,
Greetings!
As per the eligibility criteria set by Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, the Graduates or professionals should have qualification equivalent to that of University degree recognised by UGC, in any discipline with a minimum of
60% marks ( or 55% for SC/ST/PD)
. The eligible candidates are then provisionally accepted for the 95 seats under Department of Management, IIT, Roorkee.
Unfortunately,
you have missed the chance
with a marginal percentage. However, please keep in mind that
IITs
are not the only prestigious institutions providing management programs. If you are concerned about holding a management degree/ diploma from a reputed organisation, the you can also consider Indian Institute of Management (
IIMs
).
For example, the PGP offered by
IIM Ahmedabad
states that the candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (in case of the candidate belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Differently Abled (DA) or Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category, this is relaxed to 45%). With your graduation percentage, though you are not eligible for IITs, yet you are eligible for IIMs.
Apart from IITs and IIMs, there are
other honourable colleges
that you can consider with your graduation percentage. These include:
* Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Delhi
* SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai
* XLRI (Xavier School of Management), Jamshedpur
* Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (SVKM's NMIMS), Mumbai
* Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Pune
Though all the aforementioned colleges enjoy popularity and reputation, the college which is suitable for you can be
dependent on a variety of factors
. These factors include: specialisation, type (degree/ diploma/ program etc.), location, fees, placement statistics, infrastructure, faculty and alike. It would be beneficial that in stead of focusing on only brands, you should
take into consideration your interest (specialisation)
and should focus on finding a college which provides promisable future in your domain.
I hope you find this information useful.
In case of any doubt, feel free to raise more queries. We will be happy to assist you.
All the best for your future endeavours!
Hi Ajit, it is very tough as far as I know because they expect a minimum of 60% in graduation, 10th, 12th. Geerally they are all given weightage along with the cat scores and other factors. However if other factors are high then you may stand a chance. Ecen though they setup eligiblity criteria less, they expect more than 70-80% . However the final call is dependent on the college though.
General or OBC category candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks or CGPA of 6.00 on a 10-point scale at qualifying degree level.
Reserved category candidates have a lesser qualifying mark. For them, the percentage of marks is 55% or 5.50 CGPA on a 10-point scale.
I hope this helps.
