I have 94.4 in 10th, 91.2 in 12th and 82.4 CGPA in engineering from NIT , with 2 year workex in IT till July,2020. I am a general female. What is the minimum percentile I should target for CAT 2020, to have a chance for top 6 IIMs?
Hello there, IIM admission process involves three stages
- The first stage is the minimum percentile requirements in CAT, which differs from IIM to IIM
- The second stage consists of WAT (written ability test) / PI (personal interview) or AWT rounds
- Shortlisted candidates from second round go through the stage where extracurricular activities, work experience , the academic record is weighed.
Top IIM colleges
- IIM Ahmedabad- for general category the estimated percentile for CAT is above 99, which requires a requirement of constant range of 70-75 marks in all sections of CAT examination.
- IIM Bangalore- you can get a call at a percentile that is as low as 85 percentile, would be 90 percentile
- IIM Calcutta- it's estimated cut off percentile is 95and above. IIM Calcutta gives the educational and professional qualifications and work experience a huge weightage. You have to score (VARC -75, DILR-80, QA-80). The lowest overall percentile for general category would be 90 percentile.
- IIM Lucknow- IIM Lucknow cutoff are categorised into 3 categories, namely PGP, PGP-SM and PGP-ABM. The lowest estimated cutoff for each of the section are 90,86,& 80 percentile respectively for general category. There an overall minimum percentile requirements of 90 is necessary for IIM Lucknow ( female candidates receive two additional points.
- IIM Indore- IIM Indore requires a percentile overall of 90 and above. The institution emphasises your score and your graduation in X and XII.
- IIM Kozhikode- it is also around 90 percentile. This institution awards a 5 per cent gender bonus and 2 percent academic bonus. If selected for the personal interview , the chances of entering the institution as high as the PI is weightage by 45 percent.
