Hi Darun,
The course offered in perfusion technology is B.Sc Cardiac Perfusion. And the fee structure varies between universities with a minimum of 35,000 INR (Saveetha University) to 2,01,000 INR(Manipal University). The course is of 3 years and the package you receive will range from 3 - 20 lacs per annum based on the company you get placed in.
During cardiac surgery, the surgeon needs to works on a still heart so it is necessary to give the patient artificial circulatory and respiratory function. It is the perfusionist's responsibility to operate the heart-lung machine, which is an artificial blood pump, that circulates oxygenated blood while the surgeon operates on the patient's heart. It's also the Perfusionist's responsibility to deliver the drug that stops the heart and also the perfusionist is responsible for managing physiological and metabolical demands of the patient's body while the surgeon operates on the patient's heart. The perfusionist measures various parameters to analyze the appropriate mechanical and pharmacological manipulation to maintain physiological state. Hence a perfusionist must have an in-depth knowledge of both respiratory and circulatory systems and also have good knowledge of operating complex types of equipment.
The cost of the course varies based on the college and university. Even if you compare fees for courses of B.tech or BE from different universities it ranges vastly. The course of perfusion technology is said to be a good one because of the vast job positions you get in the medical field with good pay.
The job positions you can work on are cardiac perfusionist, Pediatric Cardiologist, Teacher & Lecturer, Perfusionist, Cardiology Technologist, Cardiology Surgeon, ECG (electrocardiographic) Technologist, Assistant Cardiology Supervisor, Cardiac Catheterization Technologist etc.
Few colleges that offer this course are,
I hope this helps you.
