Before 2014 there was a rule of rejecting the person with tattoo. But the decisions were changed to, Unless your tattoo is giving a message of terrorism, gangstar you will have no objection with tattoo.

Simple tattoos like names, religious symbols won't stop you for being eligible for police. So you can apply.

Any SSC candidate who has a permanent tattoo on his body cannot be declared as an unfit candidate for appointment. There is a clear tattoo policy for Staff Selection Commission Central Police Organization (SSC CPO) posts (Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police, CAPFs and Assistant Sub-Inspector in CISF). There is actually no bar in recruiting candidates having permanent tattoos as per the SSC recruitment rules.
