I have a seat now but if I float the current seat and am alloted a seat higher in prefrence can I still freeze my earlier choice?

Congratulations on your success!
Once you float, you may or may not get a seat higher in preference of the one you already possess. But choosing the option of the float and getting a seat of higher preference wouldn't allow you to freeze your earlier choice.
Hence , you should be very careful about choosing the options .
