There are two IELTS- IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training .

IELTS General Training is for those who want to emigrate to an English Speaking Country, study or train below degree level, work or for training purpose related to work in an English Speaking Country. IELTS Academic is for the purpose of pursuing higher education at UG and PG level, working for a professional organization in an English Speaking Country.

IELTS General is usually based on testing of general language skills whereas IELTS academic is not tested on the context of everyday English but it's more academic oriented to evaluate the ability of candidate in terms of understanding technical terms which are complex in nature in academic English.

IELTS General is comparatively easier that IELTS Academic.
