Hi Kiruthika,

First of all, heartily congratulations to you on clearing your GATE exam. Since, you wish to take admission in NITs , let me tell you that all NITs take admission in ME/M.tech through CCMT (Central Counseling for Mtech) process only.

Every candidate who has qualified GATE is required to apply for CCMT and then select Colleges and courses of your choice.

You'll need to follow the stages mentioned below in order to apply for CCMT Admission and Selection process, 2019

1. You need to register , fill the form along with all the necessary documents and lock your choice in the choice filling column.

CCMT prepares GATE cut off for NITs which is considered as a screening process.

( You could also go through the cut off scores of last year's to see where you stand).

2. Usually, they call GATE and Non-GATE applicants but the preference is given to qualified GATE candidates.

3. You will be shortlisted on the basis of GATE score for NITs and will be given a call for admission. You can visit the admission website of NITs to check whether you are shortlisted or not. Usually, the ratio for seats is 1:3 ( which means 3 students for 1 seat).

4. There will be written test / interview or maybe both, for Non-GATE candidates, the written test and interview is mandatory. Since, you are qualified, you need not to worry.

5.  Candidates who meet the cut off score are more likely to get their Seat Allotment .

However, there are number of factors taken into consideration like difficulty level of exam, number of applicants, etc.

NITs GATE cut off will be different according to the discipline and category selected.

6. Once you have been alloted a seat, you  need to make Seat acceptance fee payment.

7. Then you need to report at the reporting centre after payment of seat acceptance fee.

8. Payment of seat confirmation fee, Institute's balance fee (if any), and then join the alloted Institute.
