Hello,

To be eligible to appear for NEET UG a candidate must have passed 10+2 with Biology/Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry and English from a recognized board. The category wise minimum percentage of marks that a candidate need to score in Biology/Biotechnology, Physics and Chemistry taken together (practical and theory) is as follows

  • General: 50% marks
  • SC/ST/OBC: 40% marks
  • PWD: 45% marks

If you haven't studied Biology/Biotechnology you can enroll in open schooling such as NIOS and pass in either Biology or Biotechnology to be eligible to appear for NEET UG provided you must score the required percentage of marks as mentioned above based on your category. You do not have to change the stream.

Deepesh Sahu As per the details available in NEET 2020 brochure (https://ntaneet.nic.in/ntaneet/ShowPdf.aspx?Type=50C9E8D5FC98727B4BBC93CF5D64A68DB647F04F&ID=1B6453892473A467D07372D45EB05ABC2031647A) under 13.1.d section, it is given that the "Candidates who have passed 10+2 from Open School or as private candidates shall not be eligible
to appear for ‘National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test’. Furthermore, study of
Biology/Biotechnology as an Additional Subject at 10+2 level also shall not be permissible. *" and there is a note given under this point which states that it has been challenged before the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi, Hon’ble High
Court of Allahabad, Lucknow Bench and Hon’ble High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur. The provisions of the
regulations disqualifying recognized Open School Board candidates and the candidates who have studied
Biology/Biotechnology as an additional Subject has been struck down. Also MCI has filed preferred Special Leave Petitions before the Hon’ble Supreme Court and Appeals in the
Hon’ble High Courts. So until the supreme court passes its judgement candidates who have passed 10+2 from National Institute of Open Schooling or State Open Schools or as private candidates from
recognized State Boards; or with Biology/Biotechnology as additional subject are permitted to appear for NEET UG. Later the it is subjected to judgement passed by the supreme court until the candidates who have passed 10+2 from NIOS or as private candidate or from state open schools are eligible to appear for NEET UG provided they must fulfill the other eligibility requirement.

Hello,

If Biology or Biotechnology was not as one of your main Subjects then you are not eligible for NEET 2021. In order to be eligible for NEET you have to fill up form of 12th once again as Physics Chemistry Biology and English as your main subjects. These four Subjects are mandatory for NEET.
