In order to become an IPS you should have to crack UPSC exam. The eligibility for appearing in UPSC exam is just you have a bechelor degree from any feild.
But , in case you have fixed your aim so from my opinion BA degree in history or geography is more helpful for you. There are many coaching institutions available , from which you can take help to crack the exam. I will suggest you that please go through the NCERT books for preparation. The NCERT books of social science subject will help you very rapidly. You just read down all the books of social science from class 6th to 12th of subjects like ( history , geography , economics , political science ) .
And a another suggestion for you is that buy the year book MANORAMA , this book will also help you in your preparation.

In order to become to an IAS officer you will have to appear and crack the UPSC examination.
