As you have mentioned that you have done Biomedical Engineering & now you would like to know about options open with this field. I am listing down a few options that you can consider.

You can work with Research department or Institutions to develop new medical devices or develop new technology to upgrade or update the exciting devices.

You can design new devices and equipments or validate and audit the devices that are already in use.

You can get into working as a Regulatory Specialist wherein you can ensure if all the necessary compliance are taken into account before the medical equipments are purchased and brought into use in the various Institutions & departments.

You can also work in hospitals to manage the medical equipments by training the staff on how to use it and also with proper safety measures.

You can be a Technician who can specialize in installing the equipments and then sign AMC with hospitals & clinics.

You can also open a Laboratory or work for a lab where MRI, CT Scans, X rays, ECG, EEG and Ultrasounds are done.

You can get into teaching by becoming a lecturer or teacher in Colleges and Universities.

You can also get into consultancy where in you can provide consultation services to industries, hospitals and research institutions about the medical devices and equipments available.

In short, companies that manufacture biomedical devices and equipments have various openings such as Research Development, Testing & Validation, Manufacture & Design, Sales & Marketing, Compliance & Regulatory affairs. Biomedical Engineers can opt for any of the above mentioned options depending on their skills and interests.

All the best

While it is not easy to join college directly after B.Tech in Biomedical from an MBBS, there are a couple of courses you can opt for:

1. NEET-PG:

Eligibility: If one qualifies eligibility criteria for NEET-PG, then can try for the test.

Preparations: These include Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, and Forensic Medicine.

Coaching: Take admission in any coaching institute that prepares students for NEET-PG.

2. DMLT.

Eligibility: You may have to fulfill certain eligibility requirements, like a science background at 10+2 level.

Admission Procedure: Apply to colleges offering DMLT programmes

Post DMLT: After DMLT you can opt for a postgraduate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or any other allied field

3. Research:

Consider some post-graduation programme by opting for a Doctoral degree in an allied field like Bio-medical Engineering and Bioinformatics.

This could get you a research job in academic institutes or research organizations

4. Other Careers:

Explore other career opportunities in the health care sector including biomedical engineering, development of medical devices or health care IT.

These fields give you the chance to exercise your engineering skills in the health care

Change from engineering to medicine would require you a major dedication and commitment. Make sure you have sorted matters well, or taken the route that best matches with your long-term goals.

Consult with Experts: Discuss your decision-making regarding the job transition, with your medical experts, academic advisor, or career counselors.

Research: You must do ample research and understand all options and collect information about the specific needs and challenges involved in it.

Staying updated: You need to be updated with the latest regulation and admissions process.

Preparing for Competitive Exams: If you decide to do a medical degree, then you need to prepare very hard for an entrance exam like NEET-PG.

Through such careful planning and steps taken, you can also achieve your goal of doing a career in medicines.
