Yes, you definitely can pursue MTech in Computer Science after BTech in Mechanical Engineering, and when you aim for it you have to gather a lot of basic knowledge about computers to crack the GATE paper.

Yes you can do m.tech in computer science via GATE as per eligibility criteria any candidate who passed graduation can apply for gate.but why are you thinking to change your stream because both are different streams one deals with machines and other is related with software.i highly recommend think about pros and cons before changing your stream.

Yes you definitely can take admission for M.Tech computer science after B.Tech mechanical engineering but remember your gate score card must be of CSE stream, if you are going with mechanical GATE score then it is not possible to take admission for another branch in M.Tech.
