Hello Aspirant.

JOSAA is an online seat allocation portal for getting admission into IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs

NITs in general are better than IIITs, and IIITs are better than most of GFTIs. With that in mind, let us consider the following scenario.

Suppose you filled the choice in the following order:-

1.IIIT X

2.NIT Y

3.GFTI Z

Now , your rank may be high enough to secure a seat in both IIIT and NIT, but because your order of preference , you will get a seat in IIIT X and all choices below will not be eligible. Therefore, fill the choice in your order of preference, i.e first choice should be the college you want the most and son on.

Hello student,

JoSAA is Joint Seat Allocation Authority is constituted by MHRD to conduct common counselling procedure for allocation of seats on the basis of JEE Main and JEE Advanced ranks. The allotment of seats through JoSAA will be at IITs, NITs, IIITs and other GFTIs. Therefore the order also should be in such way like NITs, IITs then GFITs.

Cheers!
