Thanks a lot!The problem is that I don't have the original digitally signed certificate right now. I have applied it a week ago and it's still in process. Will it be a problem if I carry only the one which I downloaded and got it signed?

No problem mate. You can ask the officials present at the document verification to verify the one you have in hand,and tell them that,you will produce the document later after joining or in few days if you want.

As far as I know Digitally signed certificate is valid . Government institutions must not find any difficulty in accepting this ,as digitally signed certificates are legalized by the government . Don't worry too much on this . If they are not accepting then , you can submit the another one signed by tehsildar in person , later in the institution directly .
