Hey Aditi!

Honestly it does not matter from which background you are from. You can pursue interior designing as your degree without any doubts. J.J School of Arts is one of the best art colleges in India. They not only provide full time courses but also diploma courses on a part time basis. For getting into J.J School of Arts, you need to meet their basic eligibility criteria which includes :

1. Pass the Maharashtra Applied Arts and Crafts. This is the common entrance test.

2. After you pass the entrance exam there will be a counselling session after the results.

The mode of application is online whereas the entrance examination is offline. The number of seats available for interior designing is 15.

Scholarship is also provided to the talented students. These scholarships are based on merit.

After pursuing the bachelors degree you can opt for the masters degree there itself.

Good Luck!

Hi Aaditi,

Of course, you can! Interior design can be taken up irrespective of what your stream was in Class 12th. If you are already good at drawing/painting/illustrations with a good imagination then it would be a plus into taking the course. Following are the eligibility criteria for admission in J.J. college of arts for interior designing:

1. You must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised board

2.You should pass an Entrance Aptitude Test conducted by the College.

3.A student from another Board/State will be required to produce a Certificate of Eligibility from the Registrar, University of Mumbai.

Interior Design Courses Career Prospects:-The expansion of market economy and growing consumerism has opened a lucrative market for interior designers. They are in high demand for designing offices and houses. Upon successful completion of the interior design course, you can open up opportunities for self-employment.

As the market is opening up to more and more interior designers, sky is the limit for creative potential. Theater and set design or exhibition design is another option after completing the design course. Good luck!
