Dear Student,

we must first understand the difference between general rank and obc rank. Your general rank is the rank you have acquired among all the candidates who have appeared for the exam. Whereas your obc rank is the rank you have acquired among all the candidates who have appeared for the exam from your category.

When it comes to your general rank your competition automatically increases as you are competing for a seat amongst all the candidates, whereas in case of your OBC rank you will be competing with the candidates of your own category, hence bringing down the competition a little. Hence it is suggested you use your OBC rank as it might help you to get a good seat in a reputable college.
