Don't Miss: JAM Cut off for Top IITs
Dear aspirant,
The official cut-off scores for Geology has not been released by IIT Kharagpur. The merit list will be released on April 5 2019 on their official website. The cut-off will be based on various factors such as the difficulty of the exam, number of students appeared, average marks of the students, etc. It is highly unlikely to get a seat in IITs as the closing rank for M.Sc. applied geology in 2018 fell within 100 for all IITs for the general category.
IIT JAM:
The Joint Admission test for M.Sc. is conducted every year by IITs for admission to the M.Sc. and other post graduate programs in top institutes like the IITs, IISc, IISERs,NITs,NISER, etc. It is conducted every year by any of these 8 institutions - IIT Bombay,IIT Delhi,IIT Guwahati,IIT Kanpur,IIT Madras,IISc Bangalore,IIT Roorkee and IIT Kharagpur. The 2019 IIT JAM was conducted by IIT kharagpur. The notification for the exam was released on September 1 2018. The last date to apply and upload documents was October 1 2018. Possibility:
Given your rank and cutoff for geology in the general category an admission in any of the IITs and NITs and CFTI(Centrally funded Institutes of Technology) seems like a long shot taking 2018's cut off and closing rank into consideration. The 2018 cut for M.Sc applied geology was 37.47 for the General/OBC category. Please use this link for reference https://university.careers360.com/articles/jam-cutoff
The admission to NITs and CFTIs are done through CCMN(Centralized Counseling for M.Sc./ M.Sc.(Tech.). The 2018 CCMN cut offs also were pretty high as Geology is a very competitive branch. Please use this link for reference https://university.careers360.com/articles/ccmn-cutoff
All the best!
I hope you will come out with flying colors in your next attempt.
Feel free to ask further questions.
Thank you!
