This may happen due to various reasons like this year more candidates from EWS category appeared in the exam or EWS category students got better ranks as compared to last year. However you shouldn't worry about that. This doesn't mean that cutoff will go low as EWS seats remains constant. However for other reasons,it may go low. This also doesn't mean that your category certificate is of no use. As you might get a good seat in your home state NIT depending on your home state.
