Dear aspirant,

Congratulations on scoring good marks and having such high dreams. Computer science is one of the toughest and most competitive branch when it comes to GATE exam in India.

GATE 2019:

The GATE exam was conducted by IIT Madras this year. An approximate 900,000 candidates appeared for the exam across various branches. The exam was held on February 2,3,9 and 10 2019. The results and qualifying cut offs were released on March 15th 2019. The cut off was based on various factors such as the number of candidates appeared, number of seats available, difficulty of the exam, etc. Use this link for more information about GATE 2019 - https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/gate

CUT-OFF:

The qualifying marks for CSE this year is 26.6 for OBC-NCL. Your marks are way above the qualifying bar. You are eligible for Mtech admissions in IITs,NITs and State Engineering Colleges. You can use the link - https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/gate-cutoff for more details about GATE cutoff 2019. Admission to NITs is through CCMT.

IITs like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras , IIT Guwahati, IIT roorkee, etc. are the most commonly sought colleges for Mtech in CSE. NIT Waragal, MNIT Allahaba, NIT suratkal and NIT Delhi are the most sought NITs for CSE. You have a decent chance of getting into lower ranked IITs and NITs. Admission into top IITs seems like a long shot. You have more than just a fair chance of getting seats in state engineering colleges through GATE 2019.

You can use Career360's college predictor tool to predict what colleges you might get. use think link for that purpose - https://engineering.careers360.com/gate-college-predictor?icn=GATE_clgpd&ici=GATE_article_view_sticky

Very few top institutes in india offer MS programs. Some of them are :

1)IIIT, Allahabad

2)IIT Madras

3)IIT Kharagpur

4)IIT Delhi

5)IIIT Hyderabad

They take the student's GATE,GRE,GMAT and TOEFL scores into consideration when providing admissions.

MS is generally preferred to be done abroad by most people. An MS degree from countries like USA, Canada, Australia and the UK have more value than a MS or M.E in India. GRE, TOEFL , GMAT and IELTS are the exams written to get admissions in universities abroad.

You can refer this link for information about top countries for doing MS - https://studyabroad.careers360.com/articles/top-ten-study-abroad-destinations-indian-students

An MS from USA, Canada or the UK is always considered to be of higher value than doing MS in India or other countries abroad. If you have the financial resource for it then considering MS abroad would be a good choice. The job opportunities  are also more overseas.

Please comment if you need further clarifications.

Thank you! All the best!
