Since all the exams (AIIMS, JIPMER, and NEET) have been merged into a single exam this year, the competition is very high for every single seat. Although there is no obligation for you to opt for any one of the counsellings, you have to pay a much higher registration fee in AIQ. You rill fill in the colleges of your choice, and there are three possibilities from now on

  1. You will get a seat through the AIQ
  2. You will not get a seat through AIQ

If you do get a seat through AIQ but you chose not to grab that seat for any reason, you will not get the registration fee back. (this is not the case for option 2).

This was the biggest concern in my case which is why I waited for the state counselling to start. Be really careful with the choices you make as the AIQ seats usually have a higher cut off.
