It seems like you are interested in studying Engineering and pursuing your career as an engineer. Engineering is a good choice of career if that's what you are interested in. It comes again with its own highs and lows, its own good and bad aspects. Nevertheless, Engineering can be pursued from Government, semi-government, private, etc. colleges and universities. You can either go for the national and state level competitive examinations or can simply get yourself registered into a course in any of the private institutions of your choice. The cut-off marks or selection procedure of the IITs, NITs, etc. are quite competitive and thus high marks and scores of JEE, and such examinations are of great relevance. If you haven't appeared for such examinations then you cannot get into government engineering colleges but there are obvious exceptions of eligibility criterias in different state government institutions.
Private institutions are not that constrictive in markings though an average score (percentage) is expected. The only concerning aspect is that of the high fees structure of private institutions.
Yes, you can get into good engineering colleges. Just apply accordingly.
