see up gradation means it would go for check to higher priority given choices.  if you wish for up gradation the choices of colleges you have given on the list of counselling, which is listed before the present allocating seat , would search among them. now as per your rank if it matches with the higher choices you have given , then you would allocate a new seat, unless you would remain in the previous allocated seat.

During choice filling you have selected your choices as per your preferences. Now if the seat you are getting in this round is not your first choice, there is a chance that you lose this seat and gain the seat which is in upper preference compared to this one.

If you choose upgrade this seat will not be permanently deleted and will remain selected for you if you are not eligible to get the higher one according to your preference.

There are three options available in counselling process of WBJEE:

Accept and Freeze- Accept the seat, and do not participate in next round.Pay the seat acceptance fees and get admission.

Accept with Up gradation- Accept the seat with up-gradation in next rounds. Pay the seat acceptance fees.

Do Nothing- The allotted seat will be cancelled and candidates have to participate in next round of counselling.

In wbjee counselling, seats are provided to you, if you are happy with same then you can freeze your seat, means you will not be participating in further rounds of counseling. If you are not satisfied then you can go for float, means you want to change your seat. And, if you want to go for upgradation then if the seat you have chosen is vacant then it will be provided to you and the previous seat will be removed. If it is not vacant then you have to go with the previous seat.
