JEE Mains rank is based on percentile not marks. Percentile depends on various factors like Paper difficulty, No. Of students appearing in particular slot, How students performed in that slot, etc. The most obvious reason could be that your exam slot paper was easy when compared with other student of the same slot. Because so many people got higher marks than you, your percentile is lower than what you had expected.

See very first thing, it is impossible to have 71.2 percentile on 203 marks, so you must have calculated wrong marks using the answer key.
