Hi,
First of all congratulations. Its no easy task to qualify in GATE. Now the dates for the IITs and NITs are over. So applying now is out of question. Some IITs do open in December and you can check then. However GATE scores are valid till three years so you can use these scores to apply next year. What you should remember is that applications for IITs start in March tentatively. Admissions at NITs is through a common counselling called CCMT which generally starts in April/ May. So these are the months to keep a watch for.
The process for IITs is slightly complicated. So what one has to do is to apply to the individual IITs where one is interested. Before you do that check the Cutoffs to know which IIT you can apply to as all IITs may not offer the course. Second the GATEpaper and your B.Tech discipline will matter when you are choosing the M.Tech specialization. After you apply for some IITs, you have to register at IIT COAP which is the offer letter portal, check the offers given to you, accept the one you like and then complete admission formalities at the allotted IIT.
One important thing - Pls download the GATE score card and I hope you have the admit card too. You see these will be required during admissions when you actually apply in these three years.
I think, you should apply next year. You could also keep track of the IIT M.Tech admissions and CCMT by clicking on the links. All the best. Please write back if you need more information. you could also check GATE Cutoff to get an idea of the scores. Also if you are inclined towards a job, check P PSU Recruitment through GATE where many PSUS advertise for GATE qualified candidates. All these articles should give you an idea. Write back to us incase you have more doubts and all the best!
