I have passed 12th in 2014-15 and had given improvement exam in 2015-16 so does it count in gap year in my studies.

Well, if the improvement exam of senior secondary examination well be held on the same academic year, then there may not be any gap in the your academic career but will be considered as second attempt. But if you wish to give the examination next year, then there must be surely a gap in the career.
