Many students prefer to take a year off and prepare well to crack the JEE Main at once, rather than performing average and settling for other institutes unlike renowned ones like IITs BIT, etc. There are many instances where a potential candidate decides to wait for a year and then pursue with the test. This stance gives them an opportunity to take a break and cover the complete syllabus properly and attempt to clear the exam in one go. This seems like a great idea because:-
1. Right after 12, only a few months are left to appear for JEE Mains and Advanced which can be stressful;
2. You can allocate proper time to each subject and learn properly;
3. Better chance of scoring a fair All India Rank and securing a seat in IIT.
However, this might not always result in a positive result. Everyone does not crack the most competitive exam in a single attempt and may have to reappear to secure a seat in a prestigious institute. In such a case, a student who already dropped a year and still couldnt make it through JEE Mains in the first attempt gets a two-year gap in their profile.
A gap of two years might raise a few eyebrows when a student appears for an interview in Institutes or during placement. But if the candidate has a good substantial rank this problem also solves automatically. But for those who are worried about issues that they might face during placement, the fact is there arent any such strict rules.
Except for a few core sector companies, who doesnt accept a student with an education or academic gap, other companies might question this, but this doesnt hinder the placement process. If you have the proper explanation for the gap, then the companies pay less hinder to it and consider your aptitude and skill for job selection.
So, if you are going through the same scenario and is tensed about the same, dont worry. Rather concentrate on securing a good rank which solves all the problem with ease.
Hope it helps
