Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts various entrance examinations such Engineering Service Examination (ESE), National Defence Academy (NDA), Combined Defence Service Examination (CDSE), Civil Service Examination (CSE) and other such. If you are enquiring regarding Civil Service Examination then you are eligible to apply it if you have passed B.Tech examination or appearing in the final year of B.Tech examination. You must be minimum 21 years as on August 1 in the year of examination and the upper age limit is 32 years as on August 1 in the year of exam however, there is relaxation on upper age limit for reserved categories:

• SC/ST: Upto 5 years
• OBC: Up to 3 years
• Defence Services Personnel, disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof: up to 3 years

For the Indian Administrative Service, the Indian Foreign Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India.  For other services, a candidate must be either a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
