Hello,
Congratulations on getting such good college and branch options. I will give you a preference list which will comprise of all these factors:
- Overall ranking
- Infrastructure
- Location/accessibility
- Branch that you are been offered(Core/interdisciplinary)
- Placement opportunities
- Industry Exposure
The preference order you should consider is:
- IIT Kanpur, Material
- IIT Hyderabad, Biomedical/Materials
just to give you an overview about both the branches so you could make an informed decision:
- Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) combines engineering, physics and chemistry principles to solve real-world problems associated with nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology, energy, manufacturing and other major engineering disciplines.
- Biomedical engineering is the application of the principles and problem-solving techniques of engineering to biology and medicine.
- As per the current scope is considered currently we have abundant postgrad and doctorate programmes in India for MSE, for Biomedical the scope narrows down in the country but it sure does have wide exposure and opportunities abroad.
I would also like to add here that an engineering course should be very much taken with an interest in the field so I would suggest you to consider that factor and if you are not aware of the branches mentioned look them up on the internet. More reliable will be to go through the syllabus on the respective colleges' website. An interest in the field is the key factor in deciding how your 4 years of college will be and what opportunities you will land for yourself.
