The TNEA counselling procedure has also allowed for Sports quota for candidates where 54 sports are recognised by TNEA. The marks given for Sports quota is also different for each level of representation. For example,

A candidate getting a gold medal in an International event will get awarded 1000 points and a silver medal in International event will fetch 850 points. Similarly a candidate getting awarded a  gold medal for performance in a National level competition would get 190 points. So you can see the huge point difference between various levels which play a big role. So you have a rank of 497 based on this marking scheme. It is a very commendable feat.
