You should prepare, apply and appear for the CAT exam and also for other top B-school examinations for admissions to top B-schools.But there are a number of other factors which judge whether you will get through even after getting a higher percentile. You subject in graduation subject, what category you fall in. If you belong to a commerce background then get 97-98+ percentile in cat then for sure you'll get calls from some of the CAP IIMs, MDI, IMT and other b schools, TOP IIMs are still very dicey.
