So reservation to Government Engineering colleges are as follows :
General / open merit : 50%
OBC : 25%
SC : 8%
ST : 11%
Children of Defence personal : 3%
Sports quota: 2%
Depending upon the number of students who appear for the examination and difficulty level of the paper ,cut-offs can vary according to the course and college. It also varies depending on which category you are in.
The closing ranks of various branches in GCET were :
ECE : upto 350
Civil engineering : 200 - 250
Computer engineering: upto 800
So a general category student a rank upto 1000 can easily score a seat . Now 70 points or more is enough to choose a branch of your choice in GCET . For cse u need 50 points . You will defintely get a fair rank and hence you can get admission .

see every year cutoff changes. so it is really impossible to give surety about getting a particular colleges. cutoff also varies from stream to stream. and the merit list will be produced by rank.
so if you have rank under 1000, you may get a seat in government engineering college jammu.
