I have seen many maths background students usually go for humanities as an optional . if maths is so scoring , why don't they opt maths as an optional in upsc ? is it tough? can anyone pls answer. .
Hi
There are 3 reasons why people choose arts subject for optional:-
-------) unlike subject like maths, you don't have to solve equations etc and for many arts subjects are relatively easier and can be prepared in relatively shorter span of time.
-------) Subject like Maths don't help in GS
-------) So, instead of choosing subjects like Maths people choose arts subjects so that it can help in their GS as well.
But if you are really good at maths, you can definitely choose it.
Anyway,
