Hello student,
Taking a drop can be both both or bad. It depends on the performance you lay after doing so.
As you have already prepared for 2 years but haven't been able to crack JEE this year, and then if you believe firmly within yourself that you can do it the next time you get an opportunity - take a drop and go hard for it!
Else you can join private colleges and go for your further studies. It relies solely upon you.
All the best!!
Hope you are doing well. Some students who are not able to make JEE performance up to the mark devote one or two years only to study for it. Some people even succeed after their constant dedication. But some don't. If you are very interested and willing to crack JEE with good performance, then you can join any JEE coaching classes and prepare for next year. Otherwise some people even think that joining coaching center is waste of a precious year. This thing should be decided by you and your family members. If all are agreed with the coaching class idea, you can go for it. The choice is yours. I hope you got the point after reading this answer.
All the best.
