Hi,

It's good to know that you have an aspiration to do MBA after your graduation, but your line of thought needs a little bit of modification. Rather than choosing a course based on whether you will get admission in a B-school or not, you should rather focus on whether you are interested in any of the courses you have mentioned.

But first thing first, both the courses are good and all other courses which you failed mention are also good to do MBA in future.

BBA

It is a three-year undergraduate degree, focuses highly on developing business skills. Theoretical education is supposed to be backed by practical experience which may include summer internships, industry visits, presentations, and case studies. The syllabus of the BBA course consists of  theory of Management Information Systems, finance, marketing, and human resources.

Important part is that, it depends, from which college you are doing your BBA and your CGPA/Percentage which acts as one of the factor to be considered by any B-school depending on which B-schools you are applying, the weightage may vary. So while choosing your college for an under-graduation also you need to factor in these things.

BCom

It provides careers in finance, or in other field like taxation or accountancy. Pursuing an MBA in Finance will be something which this course may provide you an edge over but again keep in mind the importance of college from where you have decided to do your BCom matters.

But what you should keep in mind is that it doesn't matter whether you do BBA or BCom or Engg. what matters is that whether you like the area or the specialization in which you are planning to do your graduation. Nobody can tell you which course is better as each has it's own pedagogy and should be chosen solely on the basis of your interests in the subjects taught, the future scope of you getting in a good B-school for an MBA may pan out depending on many other factors.

Imagine you choose a specialization for which you have no affinity or have no interest in, not only would you waste your precious time(3 years), energy(studying, travelling, enjoying, projects, sports etc.) and money(course fee as well as travel fee or hostel etc.) but also you might end up demoralized which might end up creating  lack of interest which again further will lead you to under performance in exam and low score and a broken dream of  MBA. Also. please note, getting into B-school is not dependent just on your course but with other factors like percentiles in CAT, XAT, SNAP, IIFT etc. depending on which B-schools you are applying for and also in your scores in 10th, 12th and graduation and achievements both in academics and non-academic areas matter a lot in getting into  top B-schools like IIMs, XLRI, MDI etc.

So, as of now, first conduct a thorough research on the courses and top colleges which provides BBA and BCom. Second, interact with their alumns to know more about the course as well as the pedagogy of the college. Third, once you have done all the research sit down and take your own time to decide which way you want to go by weighing in the pros and cons. In this stage it's better you decide by yourself as you also need to know whether the subjects offered interests you. Fourth, once decided go for it and start practicing for CAT, XAT etc. and make your dreams come true.

Do note, I know people who have done MBA with graduation in economics, mathematics, psychology and law. I hope after reading this, your line of thoughts have also modified to suit you to make better decision. Best of luck.

Dear Aspirant,

Both the courses are good. But you should opt for BBA if you can because it will help you gain some exposure to practical knowledge also. Moreover, you can choose any of the course but make sure to make a decent percentage throughout your graduation as you will find it very useful if you have managed to get good marks in your graduation, while applying or MBA.

Hope this helps. Thank you.
