I haven't taken part in any extra curricular activities. Will this hurt my college application for mba.(especially NMIMS mum)
Dear Shiva
I would not say that it will hurt your MBA application but it might certainly have an effect during interview. But this little can be easily masked by a good GDPI and also you can cover up by gaining some work experience now.
Speaking of NMIMS their might be some effect but if your scores are high then it wont matter much.
Try to score well in CAT,Nmat and prepare well for GDPI
Yes they do play an important role it gives you an edge in case you mess up in the academics.
Otherwise the weightage is lower than the overall NMat score so you need not worry about it. If you have good past academics and better communication skills you will get through.
All the best

Hi Shiva,
Extra curricular activites role do play some role but its weightage compared to NMAT score, Case Discussion and PI. So, I would suggest you not to worry about extra curricualr but focus on getting a good score in NMAT as it is the first step to get into NMIMS. Prepare well for case discussions and PI. If you score well in all these three aspects then extra curricualr would not be an issue.
All the Best
Hello Shiva,
At this point, focus on clearing the entrance examinations; score as much as possible and secure a seat in the college. Not having done any extra curricular activities will not affect your application for MBA according to me provided you score well in the entrances.
So do not worry. Good luck.
Hello Shiva,
NMIMS Mumbai maximum focuses on your test scores.
Your academic background and the things which you have done mentioned in Resume will only be asked in your PI process and Current affairs.
Taking part in extra curricular activities will not make bigger impact of it.
Hope it clears your doubts .All the best
Hello Shiva
Well don't worry about your extracurricular activities, let the past dwell in past only. What you have in your hands improvise that only. For this you need to work hard on NMAT exam for NMIMS and CAT too. Once you clear your exams start doing some online certification course especially from Courseara. Choose a field which you believe that it will help you in your MBA course.
So its not a time to worry about anything just be thorough with your preparation and revise well. Because you have plethora of option such as lean management courses, six sigma course, data science as well.
Good luck for your career ahead.
Thanks
For the application and initial screening process, extra curriculars are just to understand your personality and do not affect your chances of selection. Once selected for the interview, they can become good points to put forward your personality. Only for SP Jain profile based shortlist, extra curriculars play a major role.
Hello shiva ,
Your extra curricular activites define who you are only to a certain extent. The general CV formats for B schools contain extra curricular tab as the last one and the important ones being your Academic acheivements like publishing papers etc. , Internships , Projects and Position of reponsibilities. If you are having good points under these tabs then I think you are all good to go for MBA. However one or two points under extra curricular activities will give an edge (sometimes).
Hi Shiva,
The application and selection of MBA students in any college are strictly over their academic performance and the entrance and GD PI rounds. No other selection criteria are present.
So you need no worry about you not taking in any extracurricular activities, it wont affect your application.
but i would suggest you to start participating in those activities if you gettin into MBA as it helps to improve self-confidence and PR.
All the best.
