i just gave my science class 10th board exam of cbse and i think i will fail in science but ik that i will have good marks in the additional subject which is AI..so will it prevent me from failing and giving compartment exam?
Congratulations on completing your CBSE Class 10th board exams!
Regarding your concern, CBSE has a compartment exam policy to help students who fail in one or more subjects. However, there's a twist!
The marks obtained in the additional subject (AI, in your case) will not be considered for calculating the overall pass percentage. The additional subject is treated separately, and its marks are not added to the main five subjects.
Pass Criteria
To pass the CBSE Class 10th exams, you need to meet the following criteria:
1. Obtain a minimum of 33% marks in each of the five main subjects (including Science).
2. Have an overall pass percentage of 33% or more in the five main subjects.
If you fail in Science but pass in the other four main subjects, you'll be eligible for a compartment exam in Science. The compartment exam is usually held in July.
However, if you fail in Science and another subject, you'll need to appear for both subjects in the compartment exam.
While the marks in the additional subject (AI) won't directly impact your pass status, they can be beneficial in other ways:
1. Internal Assessment: If you've performed well in the additional subject, it might positively impact your internal assessment grades.
2. Stream Selection: A good performance in the additional subject can be considered when selecting streams for Class 11th.
Keep in mind that the CBSE compartment exam policy and rules might change, so it's essential to check the official CBSE website for the latest information.
Fingers crossed for your results!
Hello student,
Yes, if you fail in Science but score well in your additional subject (AI), CBSE will replace your failed subject with the additional one when calculating your overall result. This means you won’t be declared "failed" and won’t have to give a compartment exam. However, if you want to pursue Science in 11th, some schools may still require a passing mark in Science. It’s best to check with your school for their specific criteria.
