Hi Raj,
I am an MBA student. So i can give you a better light on what you can expect after MBA or from CAT.
CAT is an entrance exam for getting admission into any B-School for MBA courses. Through this exam you can enter all top IIMs and majority of the top B Schools in India. If you get into any B School among the top 30, the average CTC for you after PG will be above 12 LPA only. You will be in decsion making positions in big brands of the world and you will be able to see the business from front end as well as back end.
As an MBA graduate from any top B School you will be placed in Middle management and will have to lead teams. Teamwork and leadership skills will become the forefront in your job roles. The career progression after MBA is very steep. You start your career 4-5 roles above a normal graduate and within 5-7 years you reach 2-3 roles below CEO in a relatively lean organisation.
If this si the sort of roles you are aspiring for then MBA is the right fit for you and CAT would be the ideal step to take. I suggest you to similarly read about what life will be like after GATE and JAM.
Make an informed decision. All the best.
If you love technical then go for GATE. because in GATE exam, all syllabus is from your four years subject. But in CAT, that's totally different from engineering.
But if you have interest to go for management then apply for CAT.
There are very opportunity in GATE also... Like PSUs etc.
That's totally depends upon your choice.. if you love your engineering and subject then go for GATE otherwise CAT is not bad choice.
Best of luck.
