I m in class 12 and want to do btech cse but also want to do upsc . so can i take arts after graduation and prepare for upsc?
Hello dev!!!
Sure, you can enter into upsc. For entering into upsc you dont wanted to do btech. You can choose arts college and spend more time for your upsc preparation. Yours decision is like "cat on the wall" you can't achieve in both upsc and btech CSE. Try to concentrate on one thing and definitely you can shine in your life.
Thanks a lot!!!

Hello Aspirant,
If you want to prepare for UPSC exam, then I would suggest you to go for bachelor in Arts i.e BA in general over B. Tech CSE. As BA has benefit like it's easy to pursue and you have variety of subjects to choose like History, geography, political science, economics etc which will help you out while preparing for this exam.
And moreover, you can start your UPSC preparation side by side and as early as possible like in 2nd year of graduation.

Hello,
Yes you can apply for upsc after graduations of arts.
As the minimum eligibility for UPSC CSE is a graduate degree. many students from various fields Arts, Engineering, Medicine, Commerce etc. apply for the examination.
It is generally believed that students have a slight advantage over other applicants as they are continuously gaining knowledge from various sources from various subjects..
arts students study topics of various subject like geography, politics, history .and have a slight advantage on attending upsc
Ashutosh, for starters you can appear for UPSC either by pursuing Arts or B.Tech. But when you select a stream you need to remember few things. You need to select a stream which interests you, allows you to have a career and a Plan B and also whose material is easily available for you to prepare. If you look at UPSC exam pattern, UPSC is a 3 stage selection process involving Prelims, Mains and Interview which tests your personality test. Prelims has 2 Papers namely General Studies and CSAT.
General Studies has Current Events, History of India and Indian National Movement, Indian and World Geography, Indian Polity and Governance, Economic and Social Development, Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity and Climate Change and General Science.
CSAT has Comprehension, Interpersonal skills including communication skills, Logical Reasoning and Analytical ability, Decision making and problem solving, General Mental Ability, Basic numeracy and Data Interpretation.
This is where Arts stream will certainly help you. So even if you pursue B,Tech and then want to take up any optional subject from Arts, you can. If you want to take up Arts as a career and also as an Optional subject, you can do that as well.
Dear Aspirant,
It is not mandatory to do arts for UPSC. The eligibility criteria for UPSC is the candidate must have passed degree from recognised university. So you can do UPSC while pursuing BTech also. You have to manage both the things smartly.

Hope this helps
Ashutosh, you always have to choose subjects based on your strenghts and where you have opportunities. Because UPSC is a 3 stage selection process involving Prelims, Mains and Interview which tests your personality test.
So if you take Arts, you have an advantage in the Prelims section and when you select an Optional subject you should be careful with what you choose. Because the material should be easily available, it should interest you and not bore you. But also what you need to remember is how important it is to have a Plan B. This is where your B.Tech comes into picture. So you can still take Arts and in your Graduation and then appear for UPSC. Alternatively, if you want to study B.Tech and you can take up arts through Distance Education and then still prepare for UPSC.
