Hi Prashant,
I finally got the reply from CBSE after innumerable attempts. This is what it says:
Dear Candidate,
If you are writing improvement in 01 or more subjects then the percentage will be calculated by considering maximum marks in the subject from both the years. Incase, you are giving improvement in all the five subjects, individual best score in subject will not taken, complete best year performance will be taken (either 2017 or 2018).
In this case you have to select the Year of Passing 2017 (Mention the %age and Roll No. of 2017) and mark the option “YES” in Improvement option column.
The verification of documents would be done at the time of Seat Allocation Process/admission. The purpose would be to verify different records regarding identification, age, qualifying examination, state of eligibility, category and disability (if any) of the candidate. On failing to produce any of the authentic documents, the candidate will not be considered for admission.

According, to JEE Main brochure If a candidate passes Class XII (or equivalent), but writes any of the required subjects (Language,Physics,Mathematics, any one of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject and any other subject) in next year for improvement or any other reason, then the aggregate percentage will be calculated by considering the maximum marks obtained in the required subjects.
Good Luck!!
Hi Prashant,
Can you be more specific? See the thing is that the rules say If a candidate passes Class XII (or equivalent) in 2017, but writes any of the required subjects in 2018 for improvement or any other reason, then the aggregate percentage will be calculated by considering the maximum marks obtained in the required subjects. Now if we consider that then you should be eligible. But I want to know whether you gave improvement in all subjects or a particular subject or subjects? This is important you see. then I can tell you better. Also tell me which board. You are eligible to write the exam but I am trying to see if the 75% clause is met as the top 20 percentile clause depends upon the board.
I am student of cbse board.
and I passed 12 in 2016 by 67% and I gave improvement in 5 subjects in 2017 and get 73% . But considering highest no. subject wise from 2016 and 2017 my aggregate % is 76%.
Am I eligible for jee main 2018.
in brochure they have written any no. of subjects ( any also includes 5).
at the same page read point no. 17.
