The xxxx means that you have appeared for 6 subjects but fail in one subject.

It also informs that you have the minimum 33% in the remaining 5 subjects.

Actually the improvement exam is not manadatory, since you will be considered pass. Your best 5 subjects marks will be considered for percentage calculation.

Now if you aspire to go for compartment exam you can surely go for it no problem in that u can only attempt it 3 times.
