EWS reservation is an initiative of the Central Government and all States have agreed to implement it in their States including Maharashtra. EWS is a reservation for General Category Candidates whose annual income from all sources is less than 8 lakhs per annum. EWS reservation is there in Maharashtra. The Supreme Court mentioned that Maharashtra has to increase the available seats to accomodate this reservation and that was for PG courses and not for MBBS courses.
