Hello Yogesh,
The minimum eligiblity criteria for getting admission either in the colleges of Indian Maritime University or in the college runs by the shipping companies you need to have minimum of 60% in PCM along with that you should have minimum of 50% in English.
But this condition is applicable for Deck Department and Engine Department officers rank courses like DNS, B.Sc in Nautical Science or B.Tech in Naval Architecture or B.Tech in Marine Engineering.
If you want to join as GP Rating or Saloon department then this condition is not applicable. But doing these courses you won't join as officer cadre.
Hope this will help you. Feel free to reach out in case if any query.
Yes , surely. I have answered this earlier and below is repeat. I personally feel Marks are no criteria for successful career at Sea. If you are good in subjects and you have the want to study ,
There are 4 streams ( Deck Cadet , Trainee Marine Engineer or Engine Cadet, GP Rating & Saloon Rating) for you to make it in Merchant Navy. Its PCM which helps. You can join only 2 streams with 50% in PCM.
Thank you::)
