Hey

Here is the previous year cut off for admission in government medical colleges in Haryana and their respective cut offs for admission for the general category. You'd require a rank around this range for a fair chance of admission here. This year cut off is a lot higher as the paper was easier. If you're talking about trying again in the mop up round then, you can. But compare last year ranks with your rank this year for an estimate.

Pt. BD Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak (Haryana) 3,922 590

Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College, Nalhar 9,612 556

Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Medical College, Faridabad 7,100 569

Kalpana Chawala Govt. Medical College, Karnal, Haryana 6,768 571

BPS Government Medical College for Women, Sonepat 9,168 558

Dear Sahil, that was quite a less margin that you have missed by. Haryana has few seats and hence the higher cut offs. While 572 is not a small score, it is painful to lose out on a seat with a margin of 4 marks. And to think that the cost of 4 marks is 1 Academic year is a deep pain. Now whether you should prepare for a straight 4th year or move on is your decision but I will attempt to lay the cons and pros. The obly con is you will be wasting an academic year. But if you are determined to study MBBS and you think you have the will power and determination to do it, then you should go for it. Never should you live with a regret that you should have tried one more time. Regret is a pain that no medicine can heal. If you have asked this question, somewhere deep within, you too want to give it a try and you should certainly give it another chance. But that will need focus and not diverting towards things that are unnecessary. It is true you will feel angry and you might end up hating the world or be aggressive but 'focussing on the right things only will help you'.

If you want to guage your levels of preparation, this might actually help you:
